We wish we had welcomed the news team under better circumstances, but to be able to shine a light on the difficulties we and other hospices are facing was so very important.

St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Durham, has announced the devastating news that 18 members of staff from multiple departments in the organisation have been made redundant following a consultation period.

We wanted to say a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us in the past few weeks. We are still navigating this incredibly difficult time and will update you with any progress as and when we can.

Many of you have donated, set up a regular donation, joined our lottery and visited our charity shops. We are so very grateful for any support. Every act of generosity will help to secure the future of St Cuthbert’s Hospice and make sure we can continue to care for all who need us.

Thank you to Diane Hall from Swinburne Maddsion for visiting the Hospice and making a donation following the company's Christmas Jumper Day for us. Swinburne Maddison also collected toys to give to our patients families and the children and young people who access our bereavement counselling service. 

Walkers from the Men's Wellbeing Walking Group Man Up Durham raised £200 for the Hospice in December, walking up from the Neighbourhood Cafe in Durham to present the money to our team at the Hospice.
