“The Community Outreach project has offered practical, social, and emotional opportunities for myself, as a Carer, and my husband, for whom I care. The Hospice Hub Coffee Morning is a space where I can meet up with others who are also on this challenging, ‘Dementia led journey’. We share a cuppa, experiences, information, and even a chuckle, and we can all speak with honesty amongst those who understand, while supported by the Community Outreach Team. Every Tuesday afternoon, I join my husband at the Dementia Support Group. It’s a comforting environment where he can relax, play dominoes, and socialize with others while I chat with fellow caregivers nearby. These opportunities for Carers of Dementia sufferers to come together, along with those for whom they care, and socialize in a friendly, supportive environment are virtually non-existent. It is credit to St Cuthbert’s Hospice for identifying this need. I’m sure I speak for us all when I say, Thank you, although those words don’t cover how grateful we are. Long may the project continue and hopefully expand.”
