" I wouldn't miss it, it's a privilege to take part in Christmas with our patients and families."
Senior Nurse Colleen kindly shares some lovely words on what makes a St Cuthbert’s Christmas so special.
“Christmas day is a very special time on the ward in more ways than one. The staff are on hand to support the patient and their families to make the day as memorable as possible. For some patients we are their family that day, we do our very best to meet their wishes and traditions. Christmas can be very emotive for the staff, recognising for some patients that this may be the last opportunity they have to spend Christmas with their loved ones. We aim to make it as magical as possible, the ward is decorated and the presents are wrapped. The staff get to play Santa and deliver presents to the patients, the kitchen and house-keeping go above and beyond so families can join their loved one for Christmas lunch. A truly magical experience and very rewarding. The patients and families are as much a part of our Christmas as we are of theirs. I wouldn’t miss it, it’s a privilege to take part in Christmas with our patients and families.”
