Monday 17th January 2022
All day today, for twenty four whole hours, our full clinical running costs have been donated in loving memory of Helen Foster with a ‘Pay for a Day’ donation.
Her family have kindly shared these words with us: “After being diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer, mum spent a month at St Cuthbert’s before she passed away in June 2021. The Hospice gave her a calming environment to rest and sleep; which were both really important to her. We know she really enjoyed the Reiki sessions that she received and loved chatting with the different nurses.
Before her diagnosis, mum was a keen runner and a member of several local running groups. So to raise money for St Cuthbert’s, we both took on running challenges to fundraise. Elliot took mum’s place to run in the Great North Run and Evangeline ran 100km in July 2020 in her memory. We both raised enough money to fund a Pay for a Day at St Cuthbert’s and we are so grateful to everybody who donated to our fundraising pages.
Today, January 17th would have been mum’s 55th birthday. Her husband Stephen, children Evangeline and Elliot, step-children Julienne and Darren, and the rest of her family and friends are all missing her and thinking about her a lot. And as a family, we think it is fitting that some of the money we raised for St Cuthbert’s be spent today.”
We are extremely grateful for this special donation in Helen’s memory, which will allow us to care for the many patients, families and guests with us on this day.
