About the role...
We are looking for a practical, solution-focused individual with experience of gardens and grounds maintenance to help maintain the operating condition and high standards of appearance of our grounds, premises and equipment. Working with an established team of volunteer gardeners, you will help to ensure that our grounds and facilities offer an excellent therapeutic environment for people with life-limiting illnesses and their visitors to receive services.
You will work closely with our Estates and Facilities manager to ensure that our premises and grounds (within the Hospice and our retail outlets) are fit for purpose. Alongside the Estates and Facilities manager, you will also ensure health and safety is embedded in our daily activities, and that we are compliant with health and safety legislation.
Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who is:-
- Skilled and experienced in the use of a range of tools and machinery
- Experienced in joinery, electrics, plumbing, painting and decorating
- Experienced in grounds and gardening maintenance
- Experienced in working with contractors
- Flexible and approachable, and can demonstrate a commitment to our values.
We are situated on the outskirts of Durham in beautiful surroundings. We are committed to our staff and making St Cuthbert’s Hospice a great place to work. We offer flexible working, competitive salary, workplace pension, 33 days of paid annual leave, free on-site parking and an EAP for employees and family. We are highly regarded for our quality of care and were the first Adult Hospice in the UK to be graded ‘outstanding’ by CQC.
