Photography Competition

We are looking for photographs for our much-loved Christmas Cards and Hospice Calendar. It is one of our favourite jobs to look through the variety of photographs submitted, and we can’t wait to see what this year’s competition brings!

We are now looking for images for our 2026 Calendar and 2025 Christmas Cards.

2026 Calendar

We are looking for 12 seasonal images from across County Durham to feature in our 2026 Calendar. These must be landscape and can be black and white or colour. We like to show all seasons in the calendar and match the month to the season as close as possible.

2025 Christmas Cards 

For the Cards, we are looking especially for snowy, frosty or wintery images from across County Durham. These can be portrait, landscape, panoramic or square.

Requirements

Photographs taken on a mobile device are accepted, however they must be of the highest quality to be considered for print production.

Photographers will be credited alongside their image, they retain copyright, and the sale of the Cards and Calendars helps to raise vital funds for St Cuthbert’s Hospice so we can continue to care for all who need us. The Cards and Calendars are sold online, in our nine charity shops, at some fabulous venues across the county and as we get nearer to Christmas we also sell them at fairs and events we attend and host.

You may enter up to 5 photographs. Please be selective and only enter your very best.

Please enter as soon as possible, entries will close in mid February 2025. 

Do not re-enter images previously chosen for the Cards or Calendars. Anything previously submitted but not chosen is fine.

Rules:
1. Only five entries (maximum) per person, please.
2. All photographs must have been taken in County Durham.
3. It’s okay to enter studio photographs, macro shots or astronomy images, as long as you mention where they were taken from, and that location was in County Durham.
4. All entries must sent to communications@stcuthbertshospice.com.
5. By entering the contest, you grant us permission to use your image in publicity materials relating to the contest, at no charge. You retain all other rights to your image. You will be credited as the photographer and asked if you’d like to give your photograph a title, or have us suggest one.
6. Composites are permitted, as long as all of the elements used were created by the photographer.
7. You are encouraged not to watermark your image, to make it as pleasing to the eye as possible. URLs or any other text aimed at publicising a business or website will not be permitted on the image itself but may be considered to be included in your image credit.
