Alongside the care we provide in our In-Patient Unit, the Living Well Centre, Bereavement Support and Dementia Services, we have a number of facilities at the Hospice. Some are open to the public where others can be booked for use by external organisations.

Our Café

St Cuthbert’s Hospice Coffee Shop

People have always told us that our cheese scones are pretty good, some have even described them as legendary! We’ll leave it up to you to decide! Alongside the super scones our dedicated coffee shop volunteers serve up a great selection of sandwiches, toasties, daily specials, sweet treats and savoury snacks. You’ll find a variety of teas and freshly ground coffee to choose from, and hot chocolate for the chillier days.

We are open Monday to Friday from 10:00am till 15:00pm

Interested in volunteering in the coffee shop?

Afternoon Tea

You can also enjoy a lovely Afternoon Tea here at the Hospice Café for just £8 per person.

To find out more or make a booking give us a call or drop us an email. If you are visiting the Hospice and would prefer to book in person then our Café and Reception Volunteers would be more than happy to help.

Our Gardens and Greenhouse

Did you know we have a new veg stall next to our Victorian Greenhouse?

Martin’s Veg Shop sells Hospice grown & locally sourced veg!

Open: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays 11am-3pm

Five acres are lovingly cared for by a hugely dedicated team of volunteers. Plentiful borders surround the lawns with lots of areas for patients and visitors to relax along the accessible pathways. Our Victorian-style greenhouse is the jewel in the crown of our vast Hospice grounds. We often use this space for our Dementia Services Gardening Group. As well as a beautiful environment, the gardens provide the freshest fruit and vegetables for our kitchen, and flowers to be displayed around the Hospice. Spare produce is also often available to the public at the Hospice entrance, in return for a donation. We also have a wooded area, dementia friendly sensory garden and ‘In Memory’ garden. This is a place of peaceful relaxation featuring a small stream and the sound of gently clinking of leaves on the In Memory Tree. We’re lucky to welcome lots of wildlife to our grounds so be sure to keep a look out. You may also see sheep and cows in neighbouring fields.
