Tuesday 11th April 2023
All day today, for twenty four whole hours, our full clinical running costs have been donated in loving memory of John Poulton with a ‘Pay for a Day’ donation.
Below we share some lovely words from John’s grandaughter Amber:
“On the 10th August 2021 we sadly lost my wonderful Granda John Poulton after a long, brave battle with cancer. He spent his final weeks in St Cuthbert’s Hospice.
John was a regular visitor of the In-Patient Unit for several years until the day he sadly passed. When he was fit and well enough to be back home, he enjoyed his weekly visits to the Hospice’s Living Well Centre, joining in with craft days and gardening.
He always spoke very highly of all the staff and volunteers at the Hospice and commended all of their hard work, which is evident in everything they do!
The care he received over the years from the whole team at St Cuthbert’s Hospice was incredible, and the family would never be able to thank them enough for everything they did for him.
They also provided comforting support to the family and to me personally, always provided a cuddle and a shoulder to cry on.
The family, along with some help from Belmont United, who made St Cuthbert’s their charity of the year for 2022, have raised the amazing sum of £5982. This is from events such as the Memorial Fun Day, Back to 80’s Disco, Easter Bunny Hop and much more. This donation has enabled us to “Pay for a Day” of care at the Hospice in John’s name.
We want to thank everyone who donated, helped organise or simply attended our charity events. We are truly grateful and over the moon that this money has been raised in my Granda’s name, for all the Hospice did for him whilst he was under their care.”
We are extremely grateful for this special donation in John’s name.
